Here’s my take on it.
Since 2014 Joy Bechtler has helped the young Congolese musicians of OPERAnauts overcome the odds to become skilled performers and teachers. Her donations of time, talent, and resources have allowed the musicians of OPERAnauts to succeed in spite of the violence, poverty, and disease that often surrounds them in Kinshasa.
Now those musicians are paying her generosity forward and spreading the healing power of music by coaching a next generation of aspiring musicians in the city of Kisangani as they prepare for performance and competition. Her continued support has allowed the OPERAnauts network to start to spread its notes of much needed transformative healing across the Democratic Republic of Congo.
