Dorcas Nende, OPERAnauts Executive Director in the DRC, recently delivered a powerful and inspiring presentation in French at a public event in Kinshasa. Her remarks were later translated into English for our team, giving us the opportunity to fully appreciate her vision and the meaningful goals OPERAnauts is advancing in Kinshasa with such passion and leadership.

The topic was: The role of young people in the economic transition of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

And if we had to explain it, it would be that the activity focused on raising awareness among young people about their skills, regardless of the field, everyone has something to contribute to the economy of the DRC, and Operanauts intervenes in the sense that an untrained youth misses out on professionalism, and Operanauts helps young Congolese people to professionalize their talents so that they can turn them into careers that will add value from a cultural point of view.

In addition to its focus on training, Operanauts aims to help those who have suffered trauma and find healing through lyrical music. This is a strong point from a social perspective, because young people without trauma are young people who will be available to learn and offer what they have learned, and in this sense, culturally speaking, the DRC can generate income that will help economically.

This is why young Congolese people must take action, regardless of their field of expertise.
